In Memoriam Bruce Strumpf
1930 – 2002
Bruce Strumpf, the founder and late president of Bruce Strumpf, Inc, was born in New York City. After serving in the Korean War, he attended Long Island University. After he graduated, he went to work in his father’s real estate firm until he moved to Florida in 1958.
He served as president of Consultants Realty Company until he founded Bruce Strumpf, Inc. in 1980. He maintained a low-key business environment while managing 3.2 million square feet of retail space in 30 centers. His specialty was in suburban, neighborhood centers, which he learned about from his father, who developed shopping centers around Long Island, NY and in New Jersey.
Bruce believed in keeping the company small, so he could offer personal service to his clients. Because of this philosophy that his daughter, Jill, preserves, the firm continues to count as their clients many of the children of the original shopping center owners, who were her father’s clients before her.
When Bruce passed unexpectedly in 2002, his legacy of trusted personalized service continues through his daughter, Jill, who took over the reins of the company. His stepdaughter, Alana, and her son also currently work in the company. He taught his other daughter, Lori, the value of being trusted to deliver quality services in a personalized manner through lessons he taught and his behavior. She runs her own consulting firm in Washington, DC based on these learned principles and practices.
Today, Bruce Strumpf, Inc. manages and leases 51 properties totaling approximately 4.5 million square feet spread across the entire state of Florida. The company manages and leases properties from Pensacola to Jacksonville, Fort Myers to Wellington and all across Tampa Bay.
The entire Strumpf family are proud of their heritage. Proud to be a family-owned business passed down from grandfather to father to daughter, who continues to manage family-owned shopping centers.
